7 Notes from Fashion Week
Weekly recap
I sat out of NYFW this past fall (getting sick and traveling for a wedding is a legitimately unholy combo). I was happy to have missed it, if I’m being honest, because I was feeling sort of burnt out. It also made this season so much sweeter. I jotted down a ton of thoughts about the shows I attended this year in my Notes app and copy/pasted below.
I will be wearing pants with a train. I went to the Michael Kors show for his 45th anniversary at Lincoln Center and it was beautiful. All of the styling was done by Carlos Nazario, who is incredible and just styled Rosalia for her Vogue cover. There were tons of blacks and whites and interesting silhouettes, which is where I saw the pants with a train. The whole thing felt very old-school elegance.
Food and fashion are about to get more inseparable. P. J. Clarke’s isn’t one of the best restaurants in Manhattan but it IS a staple. This is where the Michael Kors after party was, and I saw Alex Consani (one of my favorite models), which was exciting. Is this technically a fashion note? Maybe not, but I do think food and fashion are going to go more hand-in-hand this year… just ask Ralph Lauren. Eating burgers at the Polo Bar is now a New York staple too.

Waiting for the show to start // all of the models were wearing Nars makeup. Nars actually had their own after party at Fanelli's (they were serving chicken fingers and fries) Colors will be burgundy, black, and white. I’m excited to wear things in the color of wine again. It was such a popular one like, ten years ago maybe? I wore it all the time and it’s clearly been on a lot of designer’s minds this season.

Scenes from the FFORME show Fur is going to be everywhere. The FFORME show was amazing! Lots of neutrals, beautiful tailoring on the coats, and really chic statement fur pieces (there was lots of fur and long, luxe accessories at Michael Kors too). It feels very clear that next year’s jacket will reinvent the classic trench by way of unique silhouettes and tailoring.
Tailoring can save a show. I also went to the Sergio Hudson show at the New York Public Library in midtown. I’m torn on how to frame this because there were moments of beautiful tailoring, especially in some of the evening wear, but overall it wasn’t my favorite. Some of the color combinations felt off to me and the pacing of the show made it drag a bit.
And speaking of tailoring, I’ll probably retire a bunch of my baggy looks by next year. It’s clear we’re going from oversized to fitted and I’m not mad about it! Can you image by this time next year we’re all wearing skinny jeans… I’m pretty sure I love my barrel denim from Gap too much for that but never say never.

An aside that I got probably the best blowout of my life from Glamsquad. Are we officially bringing back the side part? Need to cut more layers to accommodate.... I’m never going anywhere without a camera light. That said, I sat next to the Monica. I asked for a photo and started to take a selfie, and she was like, “Oh no, do you need my light?” and pulled out this insane ring light. My friend across the way captured a photo of me taking a selfie with Monica’s professional lighting setup, which honestly might be the best image of the week.
That’s all for now! Oh and ICYMI, I wrote about peptides last week.
